Overview
This course responds to the increasingly competitive and dynamic environment within which human resources are managed and business is conducted. It provides participants with the understanding, knowledge, and skills to make strategic human resource management decisions. The course covers pressing challenges for HR managers including their growing involvement in formulating, integrating and implementing strategies in organisations, thus moving towards a ‘holistic’ approach.
The course links actual HR practices (core HRM) and three components of strategic management: institutional strategy, business strategy, and HR strategy. It emphasises practical activities such as assessment of the global economic environment, organizational culture, analysis of competencies and the implementation of human resource decisions.
Participants conduct a thorough strategic evaluation of real-life human resource management issues to strengthen skills on how to effectively manage human resources in a way that contributes to improved performance, productivity, and morale.
