Overview
Managing multiple projects demands an insight into implications of dealing with multiple projects to the extent that one has to develop coping mechanisms for effective management of multiple projects. Awareness and definition of risks and benefits involved in dealing with multiple projects are very vital for the successful simultaneous management of multiple projects.
Risks and other challenges tend to cause delays that result in high additional costs being incurred at the institutional level and by the society at large. Any project or program is necessarily part of a highly complex interrelated system, which poses a risk for their success. Therefore, projects need to be implemented appropriately as their failure can have far reaching impacts on economies and societies. Successful project implementation incorporates monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of the project(s).
Monitoring and Evaluation systems essentially help in tracking and evaluation of performance so that projects, policies and activities achieve intended outcomes and impacts. Monitoring entails the collection and analysis of data relating to what is being implemented largely pertaining to progress or lack thereof, quality, scope and budgetary issues. Evaluation (formative, summative, process and outcome) on the other hand focusses on understanding the effectiveness of programme or project or intervention. This course on Management, Monitoring and Evaluation of Multiple Projects equips participants with adequate skills to develop, manage, monitor and evaluate multiple projects.
