The energy sector occupies an important position in the lives of individuals and institutions in every society. The significance of electricity as a source of energy for household use and as the bedrock of economic development remains unparalleled. However, many a time, the energy sector is not well understood by some of its stakeholders. To change this, the sector needs to prosecute sustained public relations campaigns. This Garvey Africa Institute Effective Public Relations and Communication course helps equip participants with skills that would assist them to tell the story of their organisation in a manner that nurtures understanding and builds good relations with stakeholders that include local communities, the private sector, the government, civil society and the media.
In principle, Public Relations is a strategic communications process exploited by organisations in building mutually beneficial relationships with the public. It assists in building a positive public opinion of the organisation. Similarly, public relations could be considered a vital part of marketing that aims at creating good brand or service awareness.
